Team India’s new Pace sensation is having one of the best times in his entire cricketing journey. The right arm pacer has been in red hot form and has already started to show the glimpses of the potential that he has.
After making his test and T20 debut for India, The right handed pacer made his ODI debut against England in Nagpur. He grabbed the opportunity with both hands as he picked 3 wickets giving away 53 runs in 7 overs in the first ODI helping team India to bundle the visitors for just 248.
Harshit Rana had not got off to a dream Start in his initial overs he was sent to cleaners by Salt giving away 37 runs in his first 3 overs. Rana was even smashed by Salt for 26 runs in the 3rd over of his spell. However he made a massive comeback dismissing Ben Duckett with a wonderful short delivery followed by Harry Brook who failed to open his account and was dismissed for 3 ball duck. Harshit even got Liam Livingstone in his 7th over becoming one of few players to pick 3 wickets in all 3 formats of the game on debut.
He made his test debut against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy where he picked up 3/48 in the first innings. Rana was given an opportunity in T20 cricket (although a bit different from others ) but he impressed everyone picking up 3/33.
Only four cricketers have achieved this rare feat which includes England’s Jon Lewis (2005-06), Sri Lanka’s Ajantha Mendis (2008), West Indies’ Devendra Bishoo (2011) and Australia’s Pat Cummins (2011).
“It was my dream, I prepared myself for this and put in the hard yards. I didn’t hit the right lengths initially but got the rewards once I corrected them. They were looking to make some room (the batters), that’s the reason I kept bowling on the stumps. It’s a slightly two-paced pitch. Some of them are coming on nicely, some are stopping a bit. We bounced back in style. It’s a good total and we can chase this down, “said Harshit Rana after England’s batting.
One more thing to remember is that Harshit Rana’s all 3 wicket haul have come in a winning cause.
Apart from Harshit veteran Spinner Ravindra Jadeja also picked up 3 wickets which helped India to bowl out England for just 248 with Jos Buttler and Jacob Bathel scoring 52 and 51 respectively. For team India it was Shubman Gill who scored 87 followed by Shreyas Iyer 59 (36) helping India to chase the target and winning the encounter by 4 wickets.
