The plan is for the Indian men’s cricket team to tour Bangladesh for a trip comprising three ODIs and three T20Is in August 2025. The matches are to be played at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, and the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram, according to a statement from BCCI on X last month.
An early report from the Times of India indicated that this could not be executed soon because of the increasing tensions between India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. A source stated, The tour is planned, but nothing’s certain. A real possibility exists that India will not go to Bangladesh for the ODIs and T20Is, according to the source, owing to the situation.
A retired army officer of Bangladesh has caused some ruckus recently by talking about Bangladesh must take action concerning India’s northeastern states. This former general even suggested forming a military alliance with China in a Facebook post-If India attacks Pakistan, Bangladesh should occupy seven states of northeast India.

A complete boycott of the tour is somehow still an option, but a final decision is yet to be made. There are also questions regarding the Asia Cup in 2025, which is to be hosted by India. As the report suggests, the Indian government is taking a stern position against holding cricket matches with neighbors anytime soon.
The Asia Cup is likely supposed to be staged in September after the Bangladesh tour; however, some believe that it might get delayed, as the prospects for cricket between India and Pakistan seem rather bleak.
