Joe Root, truly scorching in the Test arena in the last couple of years, seems to be far from waning. Recently, Root became the fastest to 13,000 Test runs and may become the highest run-scorer in the format upon completion. At the present moment, Root sits fifth on the list with 13,006 Test runs. The former England captain comes with an average of 50.80, having scored 36 centuries and 65 fifties.
Root stands only one century short of breaking Rahul Dravid’s record for Test centuries, while on the runs list he is 283 shy of superseding Dravid. Dravid retired with 13,288 runs from 164 Tests, while Root, also quite well placed to surpass Jacques Kallis in his coming series against India, is, of course, 13,289 runs short of Kallis.
