India is all set to start a new chapter in Test cricket as they face England in the first Test of a 5-Test series starting June 20 at Headingley, Leeds. This is a big one as it’s not just the start of a new series but also a new era for Indian cricket. With Rohit and Virat stepping back from Tests, 25-year-old Shubman Gill is the new captain and Rishabh Pant his vice-captain.
Before the big game, senior player KL Rahul spoke to Sony Sports Network and said he got in touch with Gill the moment the team was announced. “I spoke to Shubman the moment the team was announced. I told him I’m always here if he needs help or wants to talk. But he should follow his instincts. If he needs support, I’m around.”

Rahul also said they have been in this together as a team. He said making mistakes is part of the game and everyone can learn from them.
This Test series also marks the start of a new World Test Championship cycle. Along with the new captaincy, there are new faces in the team too. Left-handed batter Sai Sudharsan and fast bowler Arshdeep Singh are getting their first Test call-ups and middle-order batter Karun Nair is back after a 8 year hiatus.
