Dhoni, erstwhile India captain, was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame on Monday, June 9, in a glittery occasion in London. He stands with six other cricket greats who are bestowed this honor in acknowledgment of players from cricket’s long history. He is the 11th Indian to be inducted into the Hall, alongside legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, and Anil Kumble.
While Dhoni could not make it to the ceremony, he expressed gratitude for this honor. He said, “It’s an honor to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame. It’s great to be remembered alongside all-time greats, and I will cherish this forever.”

Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden was inducted first this year, accompanied by the independent inductions of Hashim Amla, Graeme Smith, and Daniel Vettori. A total of five male and two female cricketers were inducted this year, including England’s Sarah Taylor and Pakistan’s Sana Mir.

These 7 new inductees join the 115 who were recognized previously. The ICC Hall of Fame had been launched by the International Cricket Council (ICC), in association with the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations (FICA), at a gala celebration in Dubai on January 2, 2009, marking the ICC’s 100th year.
