The Indian cricket team stars are said to congregate in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, to attend the wedding of Rishabh Pant’s sister, Sakshi Pant, who is a wicketkeeper-batter.
The wedding ceremonies will be conducted at an undisclosed site in Mussoorie on Tuesday and Wednesday. India skipper Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli, and former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni are expected to attend the wedding.
Sakshi Pant is marrying businessman Ankit Chaudhary. The couple got engaged last year after dating for almost nine years. Among the guests at the couple’s engagement ceremony in London in January 2024 was former Indian skipper MS Dhoni.
Sakshi, who has studied in the UK, enjoys a large following on social media courtesy of her travel pictures and trendy outfits.
This edition of the Champions Trophy was Pant’s third in which India lifted the trophy after winning over New Zealand in the final.
In December 2022, the wicketkeeper-batter was involved in a car accident that nearly took his life. With a lengthy period of rehabilitation following several surgeries, he returned to cricket after more than a year, helping India claim the title in the T20 World Cup.
On his comeback in Test, he scored a match-winning century against Bangladesh in September 2024, equalling Dhoni’s record for the maximum Test hundred by an Indian wicketkeeper.
Last November, Pant was sold for Rs 27 crore by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a mega auction held in Jeddah, thus making him the costliest player in IPL history. This was after his rival Punjab Kings (PBKS) bid Rs 26.75 crore for Shreyas Iyer just a few minutes ago.
He was named the captain of LSG for the IPL 2025 in January, starting from March 22.
