The St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots have signed Pakistani fast bowler Abbas Afridi for the 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) which starts August 14.
Afridi will join fellow Pakistani player Naseem Shah who is returning to the CPL after last playing in 2021 also for the Patriots. Shah played 7 games that season and took 6 wickets with an economy rate of 7.68.
The 2025 CPL will run from August 14 to September 21. There will be 34 games in total including the playoffs. St Lucia Kings will be the defending champions.
Afridi played in the Bangladesh Premier League last year for Fortune Barishal. He also did well in the Pakistan Super League taking 60 wickets in 40 matches since his first season in 2021. Afridi started his PSL career with Karachi Kings, had three good seasons with Multan Sultans and then went back to Karachi Kings this year.
Along with Afridi and Shah, five other Pakistani players will be in the 2025 CPL.
Former international left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir will play for the Trinbago Knight Riders. This will be his fourth CPL team since 2021. Amir has played 39 CPL matches and taken 51 wickets at an average of 18.09.
Usman Tariq, another Pakistani fast bowler will play in his first CPL season with the Trinbago Knight Riders. He had some good performances in the 2024 and 2025 PSL seasons.

All-rounder Mohammad Nawaz will also make his CPL debut, selected by the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
Meanwhile, experienced player Imad Wasim is returning to the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. He was released and then re-signed by the team before the player draft.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors who finished as runners-up last year have signed Pakistani spin all-rounder Hasan Khan. Khan is reportedly switching to play cricket for the USA.
