South African born McMullen is esteemed as a genuine all-rounder for Scotland. He is now ranked above the legendary Indian Kapil Dev, who brought India to a World Cup victory in 1983. McMullen has become the second-fastest player to accumulate 1,000 runs and 50 wickets in ODIs. He even surpassed Lance Klusener and Greg Chappell.
He made this milestone against the Netherlands during the Tri-Nation Series, which is part of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2. In just 33 matches, he had graced this double in achievements, while Ryan Ten Doeschate holds the record in 28 innings. Scotland had won that match quite comfortably, by 44 runs.
McMullen was 9 not out off 13 balls, while Finlay McCreath and Mark Watt scored fairly well with the bat—81 and 60 runs, respectively. McMullen, however, contributed decline with the ball taking 3/40 in his 10 overs, helping bowl out the Dutch for 218.
