Shakib Al Hasan was signed on to play for the Bangladesh cricket team, yet he has not been paid for the four final months of 2024, even while Monday saw the BCB announce a pay rise and increase in match fees for its players.
Bangladesh Cricket Board officials admitted that Shakib is yet to receive his outstanding salary but argued that his accounts had been frozen.
“It’s true that he’s owed his salary for September, October, November, and December. But that’s mainly because his account got frozen,” Cricbuzz quoted an official as saying.
The payment is in Bangladeshi currency and is not affected by taxes, amounting to BDT 48 lakhs, translating to USD 38400, which is around Rs 33 lakh.
