Shimron Hetmyer, the West Indies batter, is the Desert Vipers’ wild card pick for the next ILT20 season.
Before this, Hetmyer played for the Gulf Giants for the first three seasons. The Giants won the first title against the Vipers.
Hetmyer has played 69 T20Is for the West Indies. He’s a good addition to the Vipers, makes their batting lineup stronger. In his ILT20 career he has scored 666 runs with 48 fours and 33 sixes, at a rate of over 150.
Tom Moody, the Desert Vipers Director of Cricket, is happy to have Hetmyer. He said getting Hetmyer is great because he is a player they love. He’s caused them trouble in the past so having him on their side is good news.
According to Moody, Hetmyer can change the game and can play different roles. He can bat at the top or finish the innings. His ability to hit the ball over the boundary is something they like.
Moody also believes Hetmyer knows the T20 format well. He thinks Hetmyer will be a big help to the Desert Vipers in the coming season and looking forward to welcome him to the team later this year.
Hetmyer has had some good games against the Vipers, like when he hit 70 runs off 35 balls in the first season.

He hopes his arrival will help them win their first title, especially since they’ve been close before. Hetmyer loves the tournament and can’t wait to join the team in Dubai later this year.
Hetmyer, 28, has played in many T20 leagues around the world, like The Hundred, Pakistan Super League, Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League, Major League Cricket and the DP World ILT20. He also led the West Indies to win the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2016.
The Desert Vipers have been runners-up twice in the first three ILT20 seasons but still looking to win their first title. Hetmyer wants to help them achieve this.
