A history is being made by Shivam Dube. On Sunday, February 2, Shivam Dube of India became the first player in the world to win 30 matches in a row in T20 Internationals. The 31-year-old all-rounder from Mumbai made his T20I debut against Bangladesh on November 3, 2019, in Delhi, and has so far played 35 T20Is. In match one, India lost to Mahmudullah-led Bangladesh by seven wickets at Arun Jaitley Stadium, and in match five, lost by eight wickets against Bangladesh at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Since then, though, India has not lost any T20I in which Dube has played.
He was part of the team that whitewashed New Zealand 5-0 in January 2020 with Dube playing all five matches in the series. Dube was included in the playing XI of 15 T20I matches in the year 2024, winning all of them, including eight matches in the T20 World Cup. He was not initially selected in the squad for the recently concluded five-match series against England but was added on January 25 as a replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy. Dube played an important role in winning the last two matches for India, especially during the fifth T20I played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on February 2, 2025, where he made important contributions with the bat and also claimed two wickets.
Dube’s IPL franchise, Chennai Super Kings, congratulated him on his special achievement through a post on their official X handle on Monday. “If Dube plays, India wins. 30-0 and still going strong #WhistlePodu #INDvENG,” said the caption with a photo that stated, “Longest streak without defeat in men’s T20Is! 30-0. Since 11/12/2019.”
