On February 12 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, team India phased down England, taking the match from beginning to end in the third and final ODI of the white ball series. With India already winning the first two ODIs, this match came as the third between the two teams.
Batting first, hence in the third ODI, India were faced with defeat after losing the toss. The hosts had a superb game, posting a huge total of 356 runs that England was to chase down. It was an unequal contest this time around, with a few performances from India chiming for attention.
From Shubman Gill’s century to Virat Kohli‘s fifty, the match had its own delights for the viewers. One such figure in the game was Shreyas Iyer’s innings. Coming in during the middle order, he broke the England bowling to score 78 runs from 64 balls.

In doing so, the star batter became the fastest Indian batter to hit 25 scores of 50 or more in ODIs, overtaking the likes of Virat Kohli and Navjot Singh Sidhu. Notably, Iyer took just 60 innings to get to 25 50+ scores, while Kohli did it in 68 innings.
On this note, after posting 356 in the first inning, the Indian team successfully picked up 142 runs over England, who were restricted to 214 runs. With this, India has accomplished a hat trick of ODIs against England in clinching the series. It is now thought that these three wins would stand in good stead for India going to the coming Champions Trophy 2025, which will be staged in Pakistan and the UAE. India will begin its Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh. These two nations will confront each other on February 20, at 02:00 PM, in their 2nd game at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
