The former cricket captain of India, Sunil Gavaskar, opined that Royal Challengers Bangalore might just clinch their maiden Indian Premier League title after an exhilarating victory against Punjab Kings in the first qualifier at Mullanpur Stadium.
A polished bowling effort from Bangalore restricted Punjab to merely 101. Josh Hazlewood, back in action post injury, picked up three wickets with Suyash Sharma getting an equal tally, and Yash Dayal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Romario Shepherd finishing the rest of the Punjab batting.

Gavaskar said the game was cheated of much excitement by the general brilliance from both sides, saying that they haven’t really depended on one or two individuals this year; “Everyone has chipped in, and that’s been key to their success,” he told India Today. According to him, the team does realize that there is still a big game awaiting them and they are not letting this win get into their heads. “This is a huge win, but they know from experience how it feels to lose in the finals, so they’re staying grounded,” he added.
Bengaluru now awaits the results of the next match to see whom they are going to get against on June 3rd at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
