India vs Sri Lanka, Dubai – 2025
This was the best batting conditions of the tournament and a very entertaining game. India scored 202/5 and Sri Lanka matched that with 202/5. Sri Lanka seemed to be winning at one point but Indian bowlers regained control in the last two overs.
The Super Over was one-sided. Arshdeep Singh bowled first and gave away only 2 runs with well placed deliveries. Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill opened for India and Suryakumar won the game quickly. The two batters ran 3 runs on the first ball and that was it. India kept their perfect record in one over finishes and remained unbeaten in the tournament.
India vs Sri Lanka, Pallekele – 2024
This was probably India’s most unexpected Super Over win. Suryakumar Yadav’s smart captaincy helped India win a close game. Sri Lanka were chasing 138 and were 110/1. Washington Sundar took 2 wickets in the 17th over but Sri Lanka still looked like winning with 6 wickets in hand. India then used a few part timers on a pitch that was spinning and it slowed Sri Lanka down.Rinku Singh bowled the 18th over with Sri Lanka needing 9 off 12. He took 2 wickets including Kusal Perera (46) and gave away 3 runs and Sri Lanka were in a panic.
They needed 6 off the last over. Instead of Mohammed Siraj, Suryakumar Yadav bowled the last over. He took 2 wickets and India forced a Super Over. Washington Sundar then took 2 wickets in 3 balls in the Super Over and Sri Lanka scored only 2 runs. India won the game in one ball with a boundary from Suryakumar.

India vs Afghanistan, Bengaluru – 2024
India had a thrilling game against Afghanistan at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on January 17, 2024. After being 22/4, an unbeaten 190 run partnership between Rohit Sharma and Rinku Singh helped India reach 212/4. Afghanistan started well in the chase and Mohammed Nabi and Gulbadin Naib kept them in the game. After Nabi was out, Naib continued, got a fifty and tied the game. Then two Super Overs.
Afghanistan scored 16 and India matched that. In the second Super Over India lost both wickets for just 11 runs. Ravi Bishnoi bowled this over and did a good job, both Afghan batters were caught out for just one run. India won the game comfortably in the end.
India vs New Zealand, Wellington – 2020
Two days later India and New Zealand played another Super Over game in Wellington during the 4th T20I. India won again as New Zealand couldn’t score enough runs, replying to India’s 165/8 with 165/7. Manish Pandey (50) helped India post a decent score. Bumrah’s good form (1/20) helped the tourists to manage their bowling well. In the Super Over Bumrah restricted the Kiwis to 12 runs on a small ground and good batting pitch. India relaxed when Rahul hit a six off the first ball against Southee. The next ball was also sent for a four by the opener, which sealed the win and a 4-0 series win for India.
INDIA DEFEAT NEW ZEALAND WASHINGTON – 2020
Two nights later, yet afar-the-lining moments-of-a-Super-Over from the first T20I at Auckland, India and New Zealand locked horns again at Wellington on the other end of the spectrum for a birdie-worthy fourth T20I in the series. India prevailed yet again when New Zealand in the run-chase failed to cross over the required mark of 165 runs set by the visitors with 165 for 7. Manish Pandey’s 50 added respectability to India’s score before Bumrah returned to his mean ways to ensure that the visitors held their bowling end well.
In the Super Over too, Bumrah showed his genius by restricting the Kiwis to just 12 runs off his six deliveries on a ground with tiny boundaries and a wicket known to favour batsmen. Rahul eased the nerves of the team with a first-ball six against Southee, with the next ball also going for four, pretty much sealing the deal and giving India a 4-0 series lead.
