I’m good, says Suryakumar Yadav, ready to lead India at Asia Cup 2025 in UAE
In an interview with BCCI’s digital media team, Suryakumar spoke about his injury, how the doctors figured it out, the surgery he had and the rehab he went through.
I’m doing great now. For five or six weeks I’ve been working on getting better, sticking to good habits. I’m keeping my fingers crossed but I feel good, he said. We found out about the injury towards the end of the IPL. I had something similar last year so I knew I had to get an MRI.
Suryakumar said he went to Germany for treatment after the IPL and they planned his recovery carefully. He thanked the strength and conditioning coaches and physiotherapists at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for creating workouts that suited his body.

The most important thing was that the staff at the NCA understood my body and planned my workouts around that. Everything was quick and organized. We took it one week at a time, slowly but surely and now I’m back fully fit, he added.
The 34-year-old captain said he was grateful for the support he got while he was recovering. Training videos show him batting, exercising and putting in the work to get back in shape for matches.
Suryakumar is now ready for his first big job as captain. India will start their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against the UAE, who are hosting the tournament, on September 10. He is excited about the tournament and feels his team is prepared. He knows the Asia Cup will be a test but he believes his team has what it takes to do well.
He is thankful to lead the team and can’t wait to get started. He also mentioned the importance of teamwork and staying focused during the tournament. Suryakumar hopes the team can play well and make the country proud. The captain is all set to take on the challenge and is looking forward to a good tournament. He also said the team is ready to face any opponent and will give their best.
