Torrent Group’s Entry into IPL with Gujarat Titans
Ahmedabad-based Torrent Group has officially acquired a 67% majority stake in Gujarat Titans (GT), marking its entry into India’s booming sports sector. The deal, originally announced on February 12, 2025, has now received all necessary approvals, including from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
With this acquisition, CVC Capital Partners, which initially owned Gujarat Titans, will retain a 33% minority stake and continue its association with the franchise. The financial details of the deal have not been fully disclosed, but reports indicate that the transaction values Gujarat Titans at approximately INR 7522 crore, with Torrent’s share estimated at INR 5035 crore.
