During the Ranji Trophy 2024- 25 match between Delhi and Railways, three fans managed to get close to Virat Kohli, who was fielding at Arun Jaitley Stadium, on a major security breach on Saturday. Chaos erupted in the first session on Day 3 as security officials were seen rushing to apprehend the trespassers, all of whom had successfully touched Kohli’s feet before they were escorted off the field.
On Day 1 also, a spectator managed to sneak past security to touch Kohli’s feet, given this was the stalwart’s first Ranji Trophy match for 12 years. Kohli’s rare domestic appearance has notably accentuated the match, drawing thousands of eager fans to breadth the Kotla and take a glimpse of the modern-day batting deity.

The suite was waiting with bated breath for an hour into the first session of Day 2 when Kohli walked into bat at no.4. His stay lasted a mere 20 minutes, during which Rajasthan’s right-arm medium pacer Himanshu Sangwan castled the Delhi batsman for 6 in 15 balls.

The 34-year-old is among the top India Test stars who have made an appearance in the Ranji Trophy after the BCCI ruling mandating that centrally contracted cricketers play domestic matches when not on international duty.
