India’s international stars, captain Rohit Sharma, middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer, and top-order batsmen Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal arrived at Mumbai airport on Sunday.
These players were present at the Naman Awards 2025, the annual awards given by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday. The first ODI match is scheduled for Nagpur against England next.
The first ODI will be played on February 6, at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, followed by the second ODI on February 9, at Barabati Stadium, and the third one at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. This is India’s last ODI series before the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan and UAE.
India again made 4-1 series win over England in the five-match T20I at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Rohit, Jaiswal, Gill, and Iyer were not a part of the T20I series squad. Rohit and Gill were amongst the usual openers for India during ODIs and Iyer had solidified his position at number four. This is Yashasvi Jaiswal’s first opportunity to be called for ODIs.

None of these players received any awards at this year’s Naman Awards, but there were a promise of brilliance. Rohit Sharma was even asked to reflect on India’s 2024 T20 World Cup win.
“Honestly, it took me a while to register that we won the World Cup until we came to Mumbai and understood what we had really done, unfortunately for us, in Barbados, because of the hurricane, we were pretty much stuck.” After winning an ICC trophy, you definitely want to go out and celebrate, especially when you are abroad, and bring it back home to celebrate with the fans. But other than that, until we reached Mumbai and got that little glimpse of it, the very next morning after waking up, I realized it was extremely special.”
