Yashasvi Jaiswal, an opener from India, has been the talk of the town over his omission from the Asia Cup 2025 squad and then later from India’s T20I squad for the series against Australia. At the age of 23, Jaiswal had already acquired a reputation due to his sterling performances in Test cricket and in the IPL after debuting internationally in 2023. Although very consistent, Jaiswal is out of the plans of the national selectors in the shortest format.
“I didn’t decide that, so it’s out of my control. There’s no point in thinking of things that aren’t in my hands. I rather focus on improving what I can control. I try to live in the present and believe that whatever happens, happens for good.”
“Whatever lies in my fate no one can take away from me. Whatever is not meant for me, nobody can bestow unto me.”

Jaiswal so far has played 23 international Twenty20s, scoring 723 runs at an average of 36.15 and an exceptional strike rate of 164.31. He continued his good form in the 2025 edition of the IPL, making 559 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 159.71, thus asserting his dominance in the shortest format.
He last represented India in the T20Is back in 2024 against Sri Lanka and hence has not been a part of the T20I setup ever since. The young left-hander finds a place in India’s ODI squad for the ensuing three-match series against Australia later this month.
