The International Cricket Council (ICC) introduced a List A tournament called the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League in 2019. This is the pathway to qualification for the next ODI World Cup in 2027. Now the second edition of this tournament is scheduled to start on September 25. This tournament will have a total of 12 teams and the tournament will take place in Nairobi, Kenya.
The second edition will have teams who ended from second to fourth in the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League 2019-22, two teams from the Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off the four teams that finished at the top in the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League Play-off 2024. These 12 teams are divided into two different leagues with six teams each.
Challenge League A has Jersey, Denmark, Kuwait, Kenya, Papua New Guinea, and Qatar, while League B includes China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Italy, Tanzania, and Uganda. This tournament will be played in round-robin format, and every year from 2024-26, every team will play 15 games each.
