After wrapping up the IPL 2025 mega auction, the BCCI will hold the WPL 2025 mini-auction. Five teams will be filling their empty slots in this auction ahead of the third WPL season.
Hundreds of Indian and overseas women cricketers will enrol their names in the auction, which will take place in December 2024. On that note, here’s everything you need to know about the WPL 2025 mini-auction.
What is the deadline to register for the WPL 2025 auction?
Players need to register for the WPL 2025 auction before 5 PM on December 4. Once the player registration is closed, the BCCI will shortlist players eligible for the auction.

When and where will the WPL 2025 auction take place?
The WPL 2025 player auction will take place on December 15, 2024. Unlike the IPL 2025 auction, it will be a one-day affair taking place in Bengaluru.
According to a report, the board was contemplating between Bengaluru and Goa to host the mini-auction, and they chose the defending champion RCB’s home city.
How many players can teams buy in the WPL 2025 auction?
All five teams announced their retentions on November 7, keeping their core intact. There are 19 empty slots to fill across five teams.
Each team can have a squad of a maximum of 19 players, with a cap of six overseas cricketers. So Delhi Capitals (DC) have four slots open, including an overseas spot, after 14 retentions.
Gujarat Giants (GG), who finished last in the previous season, also have four slots to fill in, of which two are for overseas stars. Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) also have four empty spots each, with one overseas slot up for grabs in MI, while RCB don’t have any. And UP Warriorz have three slots available, with a spot open for a foreign player.

How much purse do teams have in the WPL 2025 auction?
The auction purse for WPL franchises has increased from INR 13.5 crore to INR 15 crore. After the increase and retentions, GG have the highest purse, with INR 4.4 crore to spend in the auction.
UPW comes in second, with a purse of INR 3.9 crore, followed by RCB (INR 3.25 crore) and MI (INR 2.65 crore). DC have the lowest salary cap, with only INR 2.5 crore to sign players.
What is the base price of players in the WPL 2025 auction?
The capped women cricketers can set their base price as INR 30 lakh, INR 40 lakh, and INR 50 lakh, respectively. The uncapped players, on the other hand, can list themselves for INR 10 lakh and INR 20 lakh, respectively.
