Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has offered to become India’s batting coach ahead of India’s white-ball series against England. In the last few months, since the T20 World Cup 2024 victory, the Men In Blue have struggled with the bat. These struggles have meant that the team lost an ODI series against Sri Lanka, lost 0-3 against New Zealand and lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The team will play the Champions Trophy in the UAE and their batting vows need to be solved as soon as possible. Most of the players, who were part of the BGT, have officially made themselves available for the Ranji Trophy which will resume on January 23. Some of these players are expected to be part of the Champions Trophy 2025 team.
Recently, Cricbuzz reported that the BCCI is looking forward to bolstering their coaching staff with the appointment of a batting coach. Meanwhile, replying to the related post on X, the T20 World Cup 2010 winner wrote “Available!”. It will be interesting to see how the pair of head coach Gautam Gambhir and Peitersen work together

BCCI is looking to appoint Sitanshu Kotak as batting coach: Reports
In a recent report by the TOI, former Saurashtra player and India A head coach, Sitanshu Kotak is being considered as the batting coach of India. Kotak played for Saurashtra from 1992 to 2013. After hanging his bat, the 52-year-old has taken up coaching jobs and was the assistant coach to now-defunct Gujarat Lions in the IPL 2017.

“Yes, Kotak’s name is being seriously discussed for the role of India’s batting coach, and it will start with the Champions Trophy in February. The BCCI is likely to make an official announcement in this regard. Most of our batsmen (batters), including the seniors, have struggled badly in the last two series. There’s clearly a need to strengthen the support staff of the Indian men’s cricket team from the batting point of view,” a reliable source in the BCCI told TOI on Thursday.
At this point in time, India’s coaching staff consist of bowling coach Morne Morkel, two assistants in the form of Ryan Ten Doeschate and Abhishek Nayar.
