New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr, awarded Tuesday, became the first New Zealand player to earn the coveted Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and happened to win in 2024 for her brilliant performance as ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year. The 24-year-old distinguished herself from fellow nominees Laura Wolvaardt, Chamari Athapaththu, and Annabel Sutherland to claim the coveted accolade, All-Kiwi. Actually, not just the first New Zealander to secure the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, but also the first Kiwi to be recognized as ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year in other category.
Over the years, she showed why she is one of the best all-rounders in the world, proving her worth in every area of the game. Her brilliant fielding saved New Zealand on numerous occasions, while her talent as a leg-spinner earned her the position of one of the world’s most menacing strike bowlers. Often jumping to their rescue, Kerr was invariably a strike bowler for New Zealand.

With the bat, she was New Zealand’s mainstay; her expansive innings were the perfect answers to a solid start, and she could hold the innings in tough times when the top order sagged.
Introduced to the world in 2017, the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy has been awarded only three players prior to Kerr: Australia’s Ellyse Perry, India’s Smriti Mandhana, and England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt, the three players each won the award twice.
