The WFI previously decided to have a final trial to take place and select the athletes for the Olympic team, with top four finishers from the last trials playing against each other. The winners from these selected ones would then be challenging the quota winners to enter into the upcoming olympics.
A power-packed performer! 💪

Ravi Kumar Dahiya had a fantastic Tokyo 2020 as he became only the second Indian wrestler to win an individual 🥈 at the Olympics.#Wrestling | @FederationWrest pic.twitter.com/C4VYmVESXT
However, it was later decided that these trials would not take place because of less time and the practice sessions that the qualifiers need to have before the paris olympics. It was met with mixed reactions with a few fans supporting and others arguing against it.
Some people felt that the final trial could have been a golden chance for the athletes like Dahiya to play in the olympics, however the decision did not come into Dahiya’s favor and he had to crush all his hopes.
