ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025: Journey to the Final
India Women U19: The Indian women’s U19 team has emulated their performance from the inaugural edition. They have been an absolute force in the second edition as well, razing past their opponents.
India started their campaign with a win over the West Indies before brushing aside host Malaysia and Sri Lanka. They remained unbeaten in the group stage and stormed into the Super Six stage.
As Sri Lanka and the Windies also qualified in the Super Six stage, India carried the points forward. Then the young Women in Blue humbled Bangladesh and Scotland to move into the second semi-final.
India were up against last year’s runners-up England in the semi-final. They overcame England yet again by gunning down the 114-run target in 15 overs.
South Africa Women U19: South Africa are also undefeated throughout this year’s campaign. They kicked off their march by defeating New Zealand in a curtailed game.
South Africa then blew away Samoa and Nigeria in their next group-stage clashes to enter the Super Six round. In the Super Six stage, the Proteas beat Ireland while their match against the USA was washed out.
Since they topped Group 2 in the Super Six stage, they advanced to the first semi-final. South Africa squared off against Australia in the semi-final and defeated them by five wickets.

ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025: Final Preview
India and South Africa are both undefeated going into the final. This is turning out quite similar to the 2024 men’s T20 World Cup, where India and South Africa also didn’t lose a match before the final.
Now, it will be interesting to see if the young Indian girls repeat the senior men’s team’s feat or if South Africa break the final curse.
On paper, India have an edge over South Africa. The team has been putting up all-round performances, which is expected to continue in the big final.
India’s opening duo of Gongadi Trisha and G Kamilini are in good form with the bat. Trisha leads the run chart with 265 runs in six innings. Trisha also smashed the first-ever century in the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, scoring an unbeaten 110 against Scotland.
Kamilini has supported her partner well, adding 135 runs in six outings, including two fifties. On the bowling front, the left-arm spin trio of Vaishnavi Sharma, Aayushi Shukla, and Parunika Sisodia are dismissing batters for fun.
Sharma has claimed 15 wickets, leading the wickets tally, while Shukla follows her with 12 victims. Sisodia has played an able hand, taking eight wickets in five innings.
South Africa’s bowlers have also tasted significant success in the tournament. Their captain, Kayla Reyneke, has led from the front, grabbing 10 wickets in five innings. Monalisa Legodi and Nthabiseng Nini have supported their skipper with six wickets each.
South Africa’s batting department, though, hasn’t got many chances. Jemma Botha is their leading run-getter with 89 runs in five innings, while Simone Lourens trails her with 71 runs.
Going by the performances, India look better placed, but one can’t rule out South Africa to stage an upset. Moreover, India have played all their matches at the Bayuemas Oval, which will also host the final. So they have a better idea about how the surface plays at the venue.
The ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 Final will take place on February 2, 2025. The match will start at 12:00 PM IST at the Bayuemas Oval in Kaula Lumpur. You can tune into Star Sports 2 on TV and the Disney+ Hostar app to watch the match.
