There has been a tremendous amount of pressure on talismanic Indian batter Virat Kohli to reinvent himself, in order to have a second wind as one of the great batters of his generation. Not all seem convinced, however, of the wisdom of coaxing Kohli into the domestic scene, with the former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu going against the need to permit it.
After a miserable outing at the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where Kohli managed only a meager 190 runs in five matches, which is the second-lowest run total in a BGT series, the Indian decided to try his hand at domestic cricket once more with his Ranji Trophy side, Delhi, to renew his confidence and return to form.
Rayudu thinks that the talismanic batter should not push himself into doing this, stating that “he will need time and belief to restore his form.”
“As of now, Virat Kohli doesn’t need Ranji. His technique was successfully used in scoring 81 hundreds and will be the road ahead too,” stated Rayudu X.

“Nobody should push him to force himself. He needs time again to feel good about everything, the inner fire will reignite itself.”
Most of what Rayudu says may be true Kohli’s recent inability to create hope in the long format over the past year gives little grounds for celebration.
Kohli’s return to domestic cricket after 12 years had transformed a run-of-the-mill Ranji game into something of a spectacle. Fans from the national capital area and beyond streamed to Kotla, eager to see their maestro in action. However, come Friday, their hopes were dashed as they now had to learn another name, Himanshu Sangwan.

Sangwan, a fast bowler aged 29, has had his moment of fame recently as he smashed Kohli’s defense and uprooted his stumps to send the talisman batter back into the pavilion.
Kohli made just six runs from 15 balls having walked out to bat at number four for Delhi in the first Ranji Trophy match that the former captain was playing after more than 12 years.
