Vaughan, a former captain of the English side, has questioned the media’s attitude back in England after a secondary school student was stabbed to death in Sheffield. UK media reports that 15-year-old Harvey Willgoose was injured on Monday at All Saints Catholic High School on Granville Road. The paramedics treated him, but he later died.
Vaughan is one of England’s greatest cricketers, born in Manchester before migrating with his family to Sheffield at the age of nine. Between 1999 and 2008, he played 82 Tests, 86 ODIs, and two T20Is.
As revealed by the BBC, a 15-year-old boy has been arrested on murder charges and is presently being kept by the police.
“A young 15 yr old is murdered at a school in Sheffield and it’s not the main headline news at 10 … RIP Harvey Willgoose … x” Vaughan posted on X

“It is with immense shock and sorrow that I must inform you one of our students was fatally stabbed. The school will be closed tomorrow (Tuesday) for all students, and further information will be sent out to you with any updates,” read the letter.
According to The Star, after the tragic occurrence, the police sent in a state of lockdown, which resulted in student dismissal in smaller clusters. Students at a neighboring school were also put under lockdown as a precautionary measure.
