The news comes from both the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the ICC, which officially announced on Monday that during the third ODI between India and England in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, February 12, an organ donation initiative will be organized. ICC Chairman Jay Shah confirmed the news via a post on X (formerly Twitter), while the BCCI published a video in which Indian players urged the masses to join the life-saving initiative.
“Today, on the occasion of the 3rd ODI between India and England in Ahmedabad on February 12th, we are proud to start an awareness initiative- “Donate Organs, Save Lives.” Sports inspire, unite, and redound beyond the ground. Thus, through this drive, we appeal to everyone to take a step of giving the biggest gift of all-the gift of life. A single pledge, one decision can save several lives. Let’s join together and make a difference!”

Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Arshdeep Singh, Akshay Patel, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant and Varun Chakravarthy are just a few who encouraged everyone able to pledge their organs to play the “winning shot” for life for so many.
While it will be a weekday, a huge crowd is still expected at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for the series finale. This has already drawn a lot of eyeballs, and fans are filling up stadiums across the country.
On February 9, the second game at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, saw India take a remarkable lead of 2-0 in the three-match ODI series that gave them a definite series win. Rohit Sharma regained his form with a brisk 119 off 90 balls, while Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer, who played a crucial role in enabling Nagpur’s win in the opener, also contributed worthwhile knocks as the Men in Blue are cruising quite well into the Champions Trophy warmer.
