Pakistan’s opening batter Fakhar Zaman suffered an injury during the Champions Trophy 2025 opening match against New Zealand at the National Stadium, Karachi on February 19, 2025.
The incident happened in the first over of the match when Fakhar chased a shot from Will Young towards the boundary. While trying to stop the ball, he landed awkwardly on his right knee and also seemed to hurt the left side of his body. Fakhar was seen limping on the sidelines and had to leave the field for medical attention. Kamran Ghulam replaced him as a substitute fielder.

This match is the 1st game of Group A in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first. After the first over, New Zealand was at 3/0 (CRR: 3) with Will Young and Devon Conway opening the innings. Pakistan’s pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi started the attack with the new ball.
