Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar praised Virat Kohli on Friday for his outstanding century against Pakistan in Dubai last week and said he has a great temperament for big matches.
India’s commanding six-wicket triumph over their archrivals hinged much on Kohli’s unbroken century.
India’s win over Pakistan earned them a semifinals berth with one match left; they will face New Zealand in their last group stage match on Sunday, March 2.

Former India captain praised Kohli’s fitness and love for cricket also and hoped for him further success in the Champions Trophy. At a brilliant average of 93, Kohli has notched 651 runs in 14 games in the competition.

India is performing very strongly in all the games it has played to date. With superb spinners and great all-rounders, the team appears strong. Vengsarkar included, “We have quite a good opportunity.
Although the Indian team dominated Bangladesh and Pakistan in the group stage, the toughest test still looms in New Zealand. In the semifinals, India is probably matched against either South Africa or Australia.
“New Zealand and Australia are also very good, but they would have to adapt in Dubai. Vengsarkar stated, India have been in Dubai for a while; they have the greatest opportunity to win.
On the other hand, India have been blasted for the ‘advantage’ of having all their games in Dubai. Eventually, the ICC, PCB, and BCCI came up with a hybrid plan for India since India would not visit Pakistan for the Champions Trophy on account of security concerns.
