Sudharsan is having a great IPL 2025 season, with 504 runs in 10 matches for GT, with five half-centuries to his credit. His performance has been vital to the Gujarat victory in the tournament.
“I’ve always admired Shubman in the last three years. If I’m in a rut in practice or facing a bowler, I would speak to him about what I could have done better. I have learned a lot by watching him play. He is a very competitive captain who knows exactly what players need. He creates a comfortable atmosphere for us to come up from when things are tough. We have made some wonderful memories on the ground and I hope we create many more this season,” Sudharsan said on JioHotstar’s ‘Gen Bold.’
At 23, he believes the Orange Cap is just a side effect of good performance. “Making runs, having an impact, and doing it at a strong strike rate—that’s where the real pressure is for the team. If you can consistently help your team win, that’s what matters most. Chasing the Orange Cap can distract you and take away from the team’s goals.”

He also talked about the deep level of trust he has with the franchise. “Since my first year, due to Ashish Nehra and the whole support staff, I’ve felt trusted. Having that sense of belonging makes you want to give your best back to the team. That’s crucial in any team. It’s allowed me to play freely without any fear of judgment.”
The last match of the IPL 2023 is etched in history in Sai Sudharsan’s mind; he added, “I’ve never experienced a game as dramatic as that final. I had mixed feelings after being retired out in the previous qualifier. Those emotions taught me a lot, and I think that helped my performance in the final. I went in with a different approach; it felt liberating, but I also carried a motivation to make a strong impact for my team.”
