Axar Patel is down with a bad bout of the flu; needless to say, this has been a blow for him, especially considering that he has been performing so well this season.
Like an injured player eager to get on the field, Patel’s situation is being watched closely, said DC assistant coach Matthew Mott while commenting on the last setting for IPL 2025 against Punjab Kings. “We will check in with the medical team tonight. Axar really wants to be out there, but it’ll come down to how he’s feeling,” Mott said.
There is still some doubt about whether Axar will be out there, described Mott; he missed training today and has been having a few spells of illness and minor setbacks.
Speaking about the team’s overall performance, Mott acknowledged that it hasn’t been all good. “We still have a lot to play for in this last game. It’s been a rough ending to what started as a good season, but we had some strong wins early on. The second half hasn’t been great, but this match is a chance to finish strong and build some momentum for next season.”
This is a team of great experience and young heads determined to give their all for this last game. Mott stressed that they were really concentrating on ending the season on a positive note and gearing up for a comeback.
