Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra says KL Rahul should be able to continue his good run of form throughout the upcoming Test series against England. With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retiring, Rahul will face the new responsibility of opening the innings. Chopra highlighted that Rahul usually starts off well but tends to fade away after a while in the series; therefore, Chopra advises him to break this habit.
I want him just to carry on, not making great starts and then finishing with low averages. Last time against Australia, England, and South Africa, he did well at the beginning but seemed to vanish after some time. Somehow you cannot just score 80 in the first match and 100 in the second match and then just average about 30 by the last match. I’d love to see him average about 47 to 54 this series. This is the perfect time because with Rohit and Kohli out, there’s increased responsibility on him. KL also has played whole series previously; so, he must step up.

Rahul shared his perspective, saying, “I want to get back into the T20I team, and I’m thinking of the World Cup, but for now, I’m trying to enjoy my game.” Then, he reflected on his white-ball performances, “I was happy with how I was playing, but about a year ago, I realized the game was changing. It’s becoming faster, and the teams that smash more boundaries tend to win more often. It’s no longer just about being smarter; hitting boundaries is it.”
