An important series against Australia is shaping up for this Indian women’s side with three ODIs schedules just nine days before the World Cup starts on September 14 in Chennai. The second ODI will take place on September 17, with the third following on September 20. The World Cup schedule is still awaited, but it is likely that it will start around September 29. Chepauk will host women’s ODIs after 18 years; the last one was in a quadrangular series where India, New Zealand, England, and Australia participated, with India ending at the last position.
Three ODIs were played against Australia last year in Albion and Perth, and India lost all. That was a tough blow for the host during the World Cup. This season has gone well in ODIs for India, who defeated Ireland at home and won a tri-series in Sri Lanka, beating the hosts in the finals.
The new faces including all-rounder Kashvee Gautam, and spinner Sree Charani and Shuchi Upadhyay were tested during the Sri Lanka series. It is now on the cards to see how many of these new faces will be used against Australia, this being the last series before the World Cup.

Australia won the ODI series 3-0 recently as part of the women’s Ashes. After this series, Harmanpreet Kaur’s team will be off to England next month, where they will play five T20Is and three ODIs, which will also be crucial for their World Cup preparations.
India and the others—Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka—earned direct entry spots, with Bangladesh and Pakistan having joined through winning a recent qualifying event. However, Pakistan might play their World Cup fixtures at a neutral venue due to a prior agreement between the BCCI and PCB.
