Heather Knight, the captain of the England women’s cricket team, is set to be sidelined at least through ODIs against West Indies and the Indian tour during June-July. The ECB stated that she is under a recovering pathway from an injury and is being constantly monitored by the medical team.
Since she has been with the England side for several years, Knight is an important player, known for her steady leadership and good batting. And now, due to an injury, she is set to miss the majority of this season’s fixtures.
The ECB announced that she’s down with a hamstring injury and so will remain out throughout summer, thereby missing the West Indies and India series and also The Hundred competition. Further investigations will be carried out on her injury, and she will work in close collaboration with the medical team to identify options and plans for treatment and recovery. An actual return date is not in sight yet.
The charming reason being, she may be fit by September 2025, when the ICC Women’s World Cup will take place. However, with Knight going down, the side will experiment, give backing to the younger players, and allow other senior players to step up and lead.

Alice Capsey has been brought in for the West Indies Women series as Knight’s backup. Despite scoring just 4 runs in her sole appearance during the series, the selectors feel Capsey can make a useful contribution. With such promise, so much energy, and versatility in the bank, the 20-year-old all-rounder will be aiming to make a name both on and off the field during this time when Knight is out injured.
