Just a few hours to go for the first Test between Shubman Gill’s Team India and England and the excitement is building. After a short break from Tests, Team India is back and fans can’t wait to get started. With Rohit Sharma retiring from Tests last month, Gill is taking over the reins. Tough place to start captaincy especially in England but Gill seems ready for the challenge.
In the pre-match press conference, an English journalist asked him how his team will play under him and if he was inspired by England’s recent brand of cricket. Gill’s response was simple and straight, “You’ll have to wait till August to see what kind of cricket that’s going to be.” It certainly caught everyone’s attention.

As the match approaches, England has already announced their team, while India is still deciding. There’s talk about who will play and according to TOI, Gill said they have one or two combinations in mind. He said, “We have one or two different combinations ready. Will have a look at the pitch and take the call.”
June 20th is the day when India and England will clash at Headingley and everyone is waiting to see how Shubman Gill performs as captain on English soil.
