India left out Jasprit Bumrah for the second Test against England which they won. Although Bumrah was India’s best bowler in the first Test which India lost, he didn’t play in Birmingham to manage his workload.
Now that India has tied the series 1-1 and wants to take the lead, Bumrah is certain to play. This will strengthen their fast bowling for the third Test starting on Thursday at Lord’s.
So who will sit out to make way for Bumrah? Akash Deep who played at Edgbaston has secured his place for now with a 10-wicket haul. Mohammed Siraj also showed he’s valuable with 7 wickets in the match.
That means Prasidh Krishna will likely be dropped after playing in the first two matches. Krishna even with some improvement in the second innings of the second Test was expensive.
Sunil Gavaskar is sure Krishna won’t be in India’s playing eleven for the Lord’s Test.
I think it’s clear, Gavaskar said on Sports Tak. Prasidh Krishna has to go out because in the first innings he was a bit expensive. Even in Leeds though he got a few wickets he didn’t really seem likely to break through.
So far Krishna has taken 6 wickets from the tour Tests at an average of 55.17.

Gavaskar said while Akash and Siraj have been at their best, Krishna has had problems with his length.
With Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj you’ve seen the number of top-class deliveries they’ve bowled. And they might not have gotten wickets – the batters played and missed and the ball hit them on the pads. It has to be Prasidh because his length wasn’t quite right. I think he will make way for Bumrah, Gavaskar said.
