Jasprit Bumrah is expected to return for India in the third match against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The match starts today at Lord’s in London.
According to Devendra Pandey of the Indian Express, Bumrah will play instead of Prasidh Krishna. This might be the only change India makes for this game.
The series is tied 1-1. India won the second match at Edgbaston by a record 336 runs. This was India’s biggest win outside of India and their first win at the Birmingham venue. With things going their way, India will look to take the lead in the series at Lord’s Cricket Ground where they have had good results in recent years.
Bumrah who was rested for the second match to manage his workload should be back in the team. Bumrah is valuable because he can bowl well with both old and new ball especially on a pitch like Lord’s which helps seam and swing bowlers.
His return will mean Prasidh Krishna will sit out. Krishna had mixed results in the series. He took 5 wickets in the first match but was expensive and got only one wicket in the second. The team prefers Bumrah’s control and experience for the third match.
India is expected to keep the same batting line up from the first two matches. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul will open. Karun Nair will probably stay at No. 3 even after low scores. The team still believes in him. Shubman Gill after a double century will continue at No. 4, Rishabh Pant who scored centuries in both innings of the first match will bat at No. 5.

Ravindra Jadeja will bat at No. 6, Washington Sundar will probably bat at No. 7 after his 42 runs in the first innings at Edgbaston. Nitish Reddy who adds batting depth will probably stay at No. 8 even though he hasn’t done much yet.
Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep bowled well at Edgbaston so they will remain India’s main fast bowlers. With Bumrah back India will have a good pace attack suited for English conditions.
