The Asia Cup 2025 is in trouble rather than excitement as the event approaches. Political issues, planning problems and India playing Pakistan have put the entire tournament in doubt.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will meet on July 25-26 to decide what happens with the Asia Cup 2025. Since India is supposed to host and Pakistan is in the same group, people are waiting for India’s final confirmation. The Pahalgam terror attack has only made things worse so BCCI is waiting for the government to give a green signal. With all this happening, the fate of the tournament depends on this one meeting.
Gaurav Gupta from The Times of India tweeted that the ACC will have a crucial meeting on July 25-26 in Dhaka. This meeting will decide if the Asia Cup, which India is supposed to host, will happen. Rajiv Shukla, the vice-president of BCCI will be there for India.
If the meeting doesn’t go well, they might not just talk about changing the venue. They might discuss if the tournament will happen at all. The current plan is to have the tournament in India from September 5 with the India vs Pakistan game on September 7. But they have already made a backup plan.
According to Sports Tak, BCCI is ready to shift the tournament to UAE if needed. Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah are the possible locations ready to host the event quickly.
BCCI is not happy that the ACC meeting is in Dhaka because Bangladesh is unstable right now. They have asked to shift the meeting and have said they might not attend if the venue stays the same.
If Asia Cup 2025 is cancelled, this year’s Asia Cup is supposed to be in T20 format which is a practice for 2026 T20 World Cup in India. Teams want to use this opportunity to try out different player combinations and plans.

If Asia Cup is cancelled, BCCI has other plans. They are thinking of a tri-series around the same time. India was supposed to tour Bangladesh for a series of limited-overs games in August but that was cancelled. Sri Lanka Cricket has offered a similar series with both ODIs and T20Is.It all depends on what happens in Dhaka on July 25-26.
