The West Indies hit a new low in Test cricket, bowled out for 27. This is their worst score in 69 years, but they just avoided the all-time lowest score which is still held by New Zealand who were bowled out for 26 against England in 1955. The match was played at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica on Monday night when Australia beat the West Indies.
Australia set a target of 204 and won the pink-ball Test by 176 runs after being bowled out for 121 in their second innings. The game was over in three days. Before this the West Indies lowest score was 47 against England in 2004.
Mitchell Starc playing his 100th Test had amazing figures of 6 for 9. No one has ever taken a five-wicket haul as quick as he has in Test cricket. He became the fourth Australian to take 400 Test wickets joining Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Nathan Lyon. Scott Boland also took a hat-trick as the visitors won the series 3-0. Australia won the first Test in Barbados by 159 runs and the second Test in Grenada by 133 runs.
It’s tough when you think you can win but instead you deliver such poor batting, said West Indies captain Roston Chase after the match. It’s been a recurring problem all series which is what makes it so painful.
At Sabina Park the West Indies had Australia at 99 for 6 in their second innings. But the visitors added 22 more runs as Alzarri Joseph took 5 for 27.
When the West Indies went to chase 204 they struggled against Starc’s bowling. He got rid of John Campbell with his first ball, trapped Kevlon Anderson leg before with his fifth ball and bowled Brandon King with his sixth, all three without a score.

Starc then got rid of opener Mikyle Louis who scored 4 and Shai Hope (2) in his third over and the West Indies were 7 for 5 after 4.3 overs. Josh Hazlewood then got rid of West Indies captain Chase and Boland got a hat-trick. Justin Greaves was the top scorer for the West Indies with 11 off 24 balls before Boland got him with the first ball of the 13th over. Boland then got Shamar Joseph and Jomel Warrican to complete his hat-trick.
With the score on 26 a misfield gave the West Indies a run and Starc then bowled Jayden Seales to end the innings and his 402nd Test wicket. Now the West Indies will host Australia in a five-match T20I series starting July 21 in Jamaica.
