Suryakumar Yadav is all set to show his cricket skills in the upcoming Buchi Babu Tournament. He is always ready to play for Mumabi whenever he is off the schedule of the national or International cricket. After winning the T20 series against Sri Lanka under Surya leadership he wasn’t selected for the ODI Series and now is currently enjoying some free time.
What is the Buchi Babu Tournament?
Buchi Babu is the domestic games of the south which is all set to begin from the 15th August and will see Surya kumar Yadav T20 Indian team captain participating in it. The Buchi Babu Tournament is one of the oldest and prestigious first-class competitions in India. Named after Indian cricket pioneer M. Buchi Babu Naidu, the first edition was played out in 1909-1910
The tournament will be played at four different venues in Tamil Nadu including Tirunelveli, Salem, Coimbatore and Natham this year. SKY is confirmed to play at the Coimbatore against chennai under the leadership of Sarfaraz Khan from August 27-30.

Surya stated that playing in the Buchi Babu tournament will allow him to have some practise sessions amidst the long break before the tour of the Bangladesh in September.
Buchi Babu Trophy starts today: Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, and Suryakumar Yadav to participate
After 6 years, the famous domestic tournament returns. In this tournament, 12 teams will compete. From today, the matches will begin in different cities.
Notable players like Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, and Suryakumar Yadav will be part of this tournament. Apart from them, many other big players will participate in this event. The tournament is making a comeback after a gap of six years. Last time, it was held in 2018. The tournament will run for 27 days and will conclude on 11th September.
In Group A, teams like Mumbai, Karnataka, and Baroda will compete. In Group B, strong teams like Delhi, Hyderabad, and Gujarat will fight for the title.

- Mumbai vs. Kerala: Venue – Jaipur
- Baroda vs. Hyderabad: Venue – Bengaluru
- Tamil Nadu vs. Gujarat: Venue – Chennai
- Group B (21-24 August):
- Delhi vs. Hyderabad: Venue – Indore
- Karnataka vs. Punjab: Venue – Nagpur
- Uttar Pradesh vs. Rajasthan: Venue – Ahmedabad
- Group C (27-30 August):
- Andhra Pradesh vs. Assam: Venue – Delhi
- Chhattisgarh vs. Vidarbha: Venue – Patna
- Bengal vs. Saurashtra: Venue – Kolkata
- Quarterfinals (2-5 September)
- Venues: Jaipur, Chennai, and Bengaluru

The Buchi Babu Trophy is seen as a significant tournament in Indian domestic cricket. It provides a platform for emerging talent to showcase their skills. The participation of key players like Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, and Suryakumar Yadav will certainly add glamour to the tournament. After a hiatus of six years, the return of the tournament is highly anticipated by cricket enthusiasts.
Suryakumar Yadav is a core Domestic at Heart:
Even after getting selected as T20 Captain for Men In Blue sky never leaves any chance to play domestic cricket. Looking up to his this habit he announced that he would be playing the domestic Buchi Babu Tournament from the Mumbai side and has also urged the selection committee to continue Sarfaraz Khan as captain.
SKY would be available to play the domestic matches from Mumbai’s Front in the tournament. And will be playing the second match in the tournament which will be played against Chennai. He would be seen playing for Mumbai side between August 27-30.
As per the MCA(Mumbai Cricket Association) sources, Surya wants to play all formats of the game and would be available for Mumbai or any domestic cricket whenever he is free from the big international games.
Besides featuring in the Buchi Babu Tournament the cricketer will be featured in the other domestic games as well. “He will play tourneys like Buchi Babu, KSCA apart from Ranji Trophy where his presence will also motivate the youngsters in the team,” a MCA source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Mumbai CA XI Squad:
The Mumbai team will be led by Captain Sarfarz Khan irrespective of the Sky being part of the Squad. Upon asking a source from MAC said that they had a conversation with SKY regarding the same where Suryakumar suggested that the team should be led by the current captain and there should not be any change in the leadership.
“He has informed us that he is available to play in the Buchi Babu tournament and his name will be added to the Mumbai side. Surya has always turned up for Mumbai cricket whenever he is available. In fact, he is one of the few players who turn up for club matches in Mumbai maidaans,” a source in the MCA confirmed.

The selection committee has already picked a squad of 17 players for the Buchi Babu Tournament and Sky will be playing merely as a player. More details on the Squad and matches would be made available once they are released for public eye.
