Zak Crawley spoke about the tense moment he had with India’s Test captain Shubman Gill during the Lord’s Test. He said those last 8 minutes on day 3 were fun.
On day 3 of the Lord’s Test which India lost by 22 runs, Gill and the English openers had words. Gill felt they were taking too long to get to the crease to avoid facing more balls as the day ended. The whole Indian team got involved, trying to unsettle the batsmen.
This seemed to fire up both teams. Indian bowlers like Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah were more aggressive. This was clear on the 5th day when England reduced India to 82/7 chasing 193. Ben Stokes bowled a long spell and Jofra Archer bowled some very quick balls.
Crawley said in the media after play: I’ve always enjoyed that part of cricket, especially when you’re batting. It’s two of you against eleven and they’re trying to get you out and they’re chirping. I usually ignore it but sometimes I think it’s a good chance to respond. I loved those 8 minutes. No one crossed the line. I thought everyone was in good spirits. It was just competitive cricket and I enjoyed it.

Crawley and Ben Duckett were 90 seconds late to the field on day 3 of the Lord’s Test.
Crawley clarified it wasn’t intentional: No, no. Not at all. I sit in my spot in the dressing room until the umpires go out. I saw the umpires go and I walked out. I wasn’t aware we were 90 seconds late but that’s fair.
