Another thrilling edition of Australia’s first-class domestic competition will be the 2025-26 Sheffield Shield season. Since many decades ago, Cricket Australia has been the administrator of the tournament, thus providing the framework to nurture world-class Australian cricketers.
The 2025-26 season will see teams representing Australia’s six states playing double round-rounds with one more final to go. Teams shall be awarded points for winning or drawing and for achieving batting or bowling bonus points. The team that places first at the conclusion of the league phase hosting the final against second place.
The competition will thus traverse the Australian domestic summer, and supporters can expect thrilling four-day encounters that will test the resilience of players and help with the selection for the national team.

- Outright win: 6 points
- Tie: 3 points each
- Draw: 1 point each
- Bonus points: Up to 1 point for batting (in first 100 overs of first innings), up to 1 point for bowling
