Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is a well known franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), owned by Kalanithi Maran of the SUN Group. The team was founded in 2012 and won their first IPL title in 2016 under the leadership of David Warner. In 2024, SRH fought hard and reached the final but lost to Kolkata Knight Riders. 2026 will be their 14th season and fans are eager to see how they perform. Let’s take a look at the coaching staff.

Daniel Vettori: Head Coach

Daniel Vettori, the former New Zealand captain and a left arm spinner, is still the head coach of SRH. He previously coached Royal Challengers Bengaluru (2014–2018), Bangladesh national team (2019) and Australian men’s team (2022–2023). Vettori did well with the team in 2024 and will try to take them further in 2026.
Muttiah Muralitharan: Spin Bowling Coach & Strategic Coach

Muttiah Muralitharan, the legendary Sri Lankan spinner, has been with SRH since 2015. He will be the spin bowling coach and also assist as strategic coach for 2026 season.
James Franklin: Pace Bowling Coach

James Franklin, the former New Zealand fast bowler, continues as pace bowling coach. He took over the role in 2024 after Dale Steyn left and has been working with SRH’s fast bowlers.
Ryan Cook: Fielding Coach
Ryan Cook, who is also the head coach of Netherlands cricket team, will continue as SRH’s fielding coach. He has been with the team since the 2023 season. Sunrisers Hyderabad brought in Ryan Cook as their fielding coach for IPL 2023.
Simon Helmot: Assistant Coach

Simon Helmot will continue as assistant coach for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2024. Simon is an Australian and has been involved in cricket for over 25 years.Simon Helmot started his coaching career in 2008 when he was appointed as coach of Australia A.
Since then he has coached teams around the world including Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL, Melbourne Renegades in Big Bash League and Trinbago Knight Riders whom he led to victory in 2015 Caribbean Premier League. He was with Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2012 to 2019. In 2020, Sunrisers Hyderabad appointed Brad Haddin as their coach and in 2022 they brought Simon back as Assistant Coach.
