An Indian leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, will once again be with Northamptonshire for the third summer in a row, this time with an even bigger responsibility. He will join the club from June till the end of the season, making him eligible to play in the County Championship and also the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.
Prior to this, Chahal did impress at the club with 44 dismissals in first-class games and 7 more in the one-day format. The past season was particularly worthwhile for him; he took 5 wickets on his One-Day Cup debut versus Kent and also took a career-best 9 for 99 against Derbyshire in a Championship game.

He ended that season with 19 wickets in just four Championship games to Northamptonshire’s cause for important wins.
Northamptonshire Coach lauds Yuzvendra Chahal
The head coach John Lehmann spoke highly of Chahal’s quality and experience that truly strengthen the squad. He said:
“Yuzi is a magnificent asset to this squad. His record across his career speaks for itself and he brings so much class and experience to the group. I loved working with him this year and am excited to go again in 2026.”
Meanwhile, Chahal himself is excited about the return.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time here last season so I’m very happy to be coming back.” Chahal said.“There are some great people in that dressing room, and I can’t wait to be part of that again.”
Towards the latter half of the season, we played some fantastic cricket, so hopefully, we can build on that with a few big wins” said Chahal.
Notably, Northamptonshire supporters will be able to watch Chahal in action come June 22, when the side go head to head with Middlesex.
In other news, another overseas signing for next year is Australian pacer Harry Conway; he will likewise be visiting Northamptonshire. After claiming 20 wickets in only four Championship games earlier this year, he is slated to be back for the first seven matches of the 2026 season come April and May.
