Sanju Samson has at last given his reply after the IPL made the swap between him and Ravindra Jadeja, one of the biggest trade deals in its history, official. The IPL season that is next will see Samson donning the famous yellow jersey of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), while Jadeja will be the Rajasthan Royals (RR) player once again, the franchise where he started his IPL career.
In addition to Jadeja, England all-rounder Sam Curran has been traded to the Royals too, and henceforth, he will be putting on their pink jersey.
Sanju Samson Shares The first Reaction on Social Media
Very shortly after the announcement, Samson made his first reaction on Instagram. He uploaded a photo where he was sitting in a chair near the beach on a very sunny day. The photo was accompanied by a simple caption that read “Vanakkam”, which translates to “Hello” in Tamil. This was his way of saying hello to the CSK fans and informing them that he is prepared to be with MS Dhoni and the rest of the squad in Chennai.
At the same time, he did a post for the RR supporters, he mentioned in a post on IG,
“We are only here for a little while” Gave MY all to this franchise, experienced some great cricket, made some lifetime relations, treated everyone in the franchise as my family.. And when the time comes..I AM moving On..😊🙏🏽 Will be always grateful for all. 💖 @rajasthanroyals”
The trade is termed as one of the huge and unexpected trades in IPL history. Samson who has been captaining the RR since 2021 and was retained at a huge price of ₹18 crore before the 2025 season had already been playing with RR for 11 years when after IPL 2025 he hinted his desire for a change and asked the franchise for his release.
Samson has had a colorful IPL career where he has played a total of 177 matches since his first stint with KKR. He will now be the fourth team to represent him. Samson usually plays in the Royals’ lineup since 2013 except for two seasons of 2016 and 2017 when he was with DC.
It is known that Samson is a great addition for CSK but not just a player; he is part of their serious plans for the future. With MS Dhoni, who is now 44 years old, CSK sees the possibility of Samson taking on various roles: a hard-hitting top-order batter, a trustworthy wicketkeeper, and maybe even their next captain.
