The Champions trophy is returning for its brand new edition in the year 2025. Tournament would see 8 top teams based on their 2023 Cricket World Cup rankings. 2025 edition of the tournament will be the ninth edition of the tournament which is scheduled to take place on Pakistan land.
Scheduled to be playing on the Pakistan grounds, the Champions trophy is scheduled to take place from 19 February – 9 March 2025. This season would see teams competing in a total of 15 matches that will be played following a Round Robin format followed by the Knockout stage. Managed by International Cricket Council, 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will be played in One day International format which will officially be hosted by Pakistan.

The host nation Pakistan, would see 7 teams touring on its land for the Champions trophy 2025. These teams are officially the qualified teams to play in the tournament. Pakistan
Being the host nation Pakistan automatically qualified for the champions trophy. It will be the first global tournament that Pakistan has been the sole host for since the 2009 attack on the Sri Lanka national cricket team. Reigning as the current champions Pakistan would be aiming to continue the last time history and would be eyeing on this year’s trophy as well.
India
India became the first country to qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025 after beating Sri Lanka in 2023 ICC Cricket World cup. Although Team India qualified for the Champions Trophy they are not participating this season. Among the concerts of team security and political tensions with Pakistan, Indian government has denied the team to visit the Pakistan land. The confirmation came from Amit Shah, union home minister for the team’s participation in the tournament.

Other Teams:
Other than India and host country Pakistan, five more teams were qualified to play in the Champions Trophy 2025 which are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, and South Africa. The teams other than Pakistan have qualified for this tournament on the basis of their 2023 world cup rankings and standings of that particular tournament. This arrangement was made to ensure that the world’s leading cricketing nations earned their spots based on performance in a competitive and rigorous qualification process.
