Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ranks among the top teams in the history of the Indian Premier League having lifted the IPL trophy 5 times and the Champions League trophy twice. Their performance ever since the league started back in 2008 has been remarkable. However, CSK couldn’t defend their title which was won in 2023, finishing fifth under the new leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL 2024 season.

1. Ruturaj Gaikwad (Rs 18 crore)
Without a doubt, Ruturaj Gaikwad is CSK’s first retention at Rs 18 crore. The confident young talent has been groomed into a potential all-format player for India. Although Gaikwad faced challenges as captain this season, he still emerged as the second-best player in the tournament. He scored an impressive 583 runs at an average of 53 and a strike rate of 141.16, including a century and four half-centuries. Since his debut in 2020, he has consistently been CSK’s best batter, making his retention at such a value a top priority for the franchise.
2. Ravindra Jadeja (Rs 18 crore)
The star all-rounder has retired from T20I, and he will only play T20s in the IPL. Ravindra Jadeja has been retained by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for IPL 2025 at 18 crores. He has been a great performer for CSK over the years, and his presence gives the team a great balance. Though his T20I numbers aren’t good for India, for CSK he has been a great asset. In the IPL 2024, he took 8 wickets with the ball and scored 222 runs with the bat. He is a great player across all three formats, and having an Indian player who can contribute in all three departments is a luxury for IPL teams.
3. Shivam Dube (Rs 12 crore)
Shivam Dube has been retained by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for IPL 2025 at INR 12 crores. Known for his powerful batting and all-rounder capabilities, Dube has become an integral part of CSK’s middle order. His performances have significantly improved since joining the franchise, Dube in Indian conditions is a beast all-together.

5. MS Dhoni (Rs 4 crore)
