Delhi Capitals (DC) will start afresh in the IPL 2025 season. They have put up a new-look squad determined to win the tournament.
Despite having the best set of players and coaches, the franchise hasn’t yet tasted success. But with a new captain and head coach in place, DC would like to turn their fortunes around. And only a strong playing XI will help them achieve the ultimate goal.
On that note, here’s our predicted strongest playing XI for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025.

DC Strongest Playing XI for IPL 2025
Openers: Jake Fraser-McGurk, Faf du Plessis
Jake Fraser-McGurk came in as a replacement last year and lit up the IPL. He smashed 330 runs in nine innings at a mighty strike rate of 234.
The young Australian would like to repeat the same performance this year, though his bat has been quiet for some time now. He will likely pair up with the veteran Faf du Plessis.
The former RCB captain will be seen in new colours, with the task of providing strong starts for DC.
Middle Order: KL Rahul, Abishek Porel, Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, Ashutosh Sharma, Sameer Rizvi
Delhi have an explosive middle order, with plenty of clean-strikers on their roster. Most of these batters will play around KL Rahul and captain Axar Patel.
After leaving LSG, Rahul will don the Delhi colours and bat at No. 3. Then a hard-hitting Abishek Porel will follow at No. 4. The young keeper-batter had a remarkable season last year, with 327 runs at a strike rate of 159.51.
Tristan Stubbs will walk in at No. 5. Like Porel, the South African batter had a breakout outing, as he plundered 378 runs at a strike rate of 190.90. Stubbs also offers handy off-spin.
DC’s new captain, Axar Patel, will be out to stabilise his team’s innings. He has been vital with both bat and ball. And now, with the added responsibility of captaincy, he would like to lead from the front.
Delhi will have two powerful finishers in Ashutosh Sharma and Sameer Rizvi. Sharma showed a glimpse of his hard-hitting last season for PBKS, while Rizvi has been doing the round in domestic cricket.
Bowlers: Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, T Natarajan
DC’s pace attack has become stronger with the addition of two left-arm pacers, Mitchell Starc and T Natarajan. Both will play a crucial role in the powerplay and death overs with their swing and yorker bowling abilities.
Kuldeep Yadav, meanwhile, will spearhead DC’s spin attack along with Patel. The left-arm wrist spinner has been in good touch and can trouble batters with his googlies.

Impact Players: Mohit Sharma/Mukesh Kumar
DC can further solidify their bowling attack by bringing in one of Mohit Sharma or Mukesh Kumar. Both are skilled seamers who can operate efficiently in the powerplay and death overs.
