In a situation that could create a major disturbance among the fans of cricket, the great Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has made it known that he will not be auctioning his name in the IPL 2026 auction. The IPL auction is set to happen in Abu Dhabi on December 16, and a report by ESPNCricinfo states that Maxwell’s name is not among those of the players who will be sold.
Glenn Maxwell to Skip IPL Auction

Glenn Maxwell was an important player for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the short time he was with the team. But, his one bad season where he had an average of less than ten runs per game led the team to release him and let him be part of the auction pool.
He was bought by Punjab Kings in the 2025 mega auction, but Maxwell’s poor performance continued and he was not part of the panel of players that the finalists could retain.
Maxwell hasn’t registered for the IPL mini auction after being released by Punjab Kings, and the report from ESPNCricinfo indicates that this might be the reason for his non-participation in 2026. He had a roller-coaster ride in the IPL from 2012 to 2025, scoring 2819 runs and taking 41 wickets in 141 matches.
